The central government may soon launch a rental housing scheme for people working in the unorganized sector such as construction workers, laborers and migrant workers. Students will also be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.
Under this reasonable rental housing scheme funded by the Central Government, houses will be made available in different categories at a rent of one to three thousand per month. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has initially estimated Rs 700 crore for the scheme.
The Finance Minister announced :

Benefits will be available based on different categories :
According to a senior official, under the prepared draft, the ministry will fix a rent of Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 per month for various categories. This will include construction workers, labor and people working in the unorganized sector. Students will also be covered in the scheme. However, no decision has yet been made on the merits of the category.
Companies will be given incentives on the ground :
A cabinet note has been prepared for the rental housing sim. This cabinet note has also been approved by the Ministry of Housing and now the proposal will be sent to the Cabinet for final approval. Under the scheme, companies will be given incentives for rental housing projects on their land.
Proposed to build 75 thousand units in different cities :
